Eleuthera is Greek for “freedom,” a fitting name for the Caribbean island that’s free from crowds, cruise ships, and casinos. Eleuthera is also home of the first republic in the “New World.” There are more natural wrecks here than any other island in the Bahamas, especially along The Devil's Backbone.
The island is divided in two parts, North and South Eleuthera, the island is 110 miles from end to end, with other family islands known as Harbour Island and Spanish Wells. In between the North and South Eleuthera is the home of the world famous glass bridge.
Eleuthera is the home of the white and pink sand beaches, the diving, snorkeling, and fishing is the norm in this area of the outer islands of the Bahamas.
North Eleuthera has some of the finest hotels and resorts in the Bahamas, if fine dining is your pleasure then Harbour Island is your dining paradise. Golf carts is the form of transportation to get around the island.
