Governor's Harbour was first named "Colebrooke Town" when first settled in 1648 by the original Eleuthera Adventurers from Bermuda. This township is near the center of the island of Eleuthera, Bahamas and has the rare distinction of being the first permanent European settlement in the New World as well as home of the first Republican form of government in the New World.

We are a small, friendly, informal inn by the sea and specialize in personal service. The inn’s location on the island makes it an ideal base from which to explore the rest of Eleuthera. Within minutes are some of the island’s top tourist attractions: Surfer’s Beach, the Famous Caves of Hatchet Bay, Glass Window Bridge, the Pineapple Fields of Gregory Town, plus our own Secret Beach. We even have “Bonefish Graham’s” own personal guide book on bone fishing in Eleuthera. Our waterfront area with its seaside tennis court and some of the best snorkeling on the island (one of the sites on the Jean-Michael Cousteau Bahama Out island Snorkeling Adventures) will provide hours of enjoyment for the whole family. Our rooms have refrigerators, coffee makers, microwave ovens, and toasters plus a gas grill by the pool. The Nautical Restaurant and bar is unsurpassed on the island for true “native dishes” and excellent continental specialties. Getting there: Fly into Governor’s Harbor (GHB) then taxi to hotel ($23.50 for 2 people, $2 each additional person).
